Microsoft Excel — Basic + Copilot
AI-first Excel — let Copilot do the work while you direct it.
Three intensive days where Microsoft Copilot does the heavy lifting and you learn to direct it. You'll structure data with Excel Tables, control quality with Data Validation, write formulas that work the first time, and finish with a 1-page interactive dashboard. Around 80% of the course is hands-on — prompting, verifying, and automating, while mastering the fundamentals that keep Copilot's output correct.
What you'll be able to do
- Turn a messy, inconsistent spreadsheet into a clean Excel Table in minutes instead of an afternoon
- Write the formulas real work needs — XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF and TEXT — and check them for errors before anyone else sees them
- Direct Copilot with clear instructions, then verify its answer instead of trusting it blindly
- Summarise thousands of rows into a PivotTable that answers one specific business question
- Build a one-page interactive dashboard with charts and slicers that a manager can read at a glance
- Rebuild your monthly report in minutes rather than hours, using the same file every month
Who this course is for
Office and admin staff
You use Excel every day but were never actually taught it, so everything takes longer than it should.
Accounting and finance staff
You handle numbers that must be correct, and you want Copilot to speed the work up without introducing mistakes.
Shop and business owners
You keep sales and stock in Excel and want a clear picture of what is happening without hiring an analyst.
Anyone told to “start using AI at work”
You want a concrete, job-related place to start rather than general AI theory.
Curriculum
01Day 1 — The Excel foundations Copilot depends on
8 hoursClean your data into an Excel Table Copilot can read, stop bad values with Data Validation, then write and fix the formulas real work needs: XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF and TEXT.
- Why Copilot gives wrong answers on badly structured data, and how to avoid it
- Excel Tables and structured references — the single biggest habit change
- Cleaning imported data: duplicates, blanks, inconsistent text and dates
- Data Validation so bad values never get typed in the first place
- The functions that carry real work: XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF, TEXT
- Reading an error message and fixing the formula yourself
Hands-on workshop
Take a messy exported customer list and turn it into a reliable Excel Table: duplicates and blanks removed, text and dates made consistent, validation rules that stop future mistakes. Then write XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF and TEXT against it, and fix the errors yourself when they appear.
02Day 2 — Working with Copilot in Excel
8 hoursDirect Copilot with clear prompts, check its output before it reaches your boss, and turn several thousand rows into one answer with a PivotTable.
- What Copilot in Excel can genuinely do, and where it still fails
- Writing a prompt that returns what you actually wanted
- Asking Copilot to explain a formula someone else wrote
- Checking Copilot's output before it reaches your boss or your customer
- PivotTables: building them yourself, then speeding them up with Copilot
- Practice on your own real work file
Hands-on workshop
Answer a real question from several thousand rows of sales — best month, best product, slowest branch — by building the PivotTable yourself first, then having Copilot do the same work faster. If you bring a file from your own job, the day ends on that.
03Day 3 — Dashboard and monthly automation
8 hoursTurn your summary into a one-page dashboard — the right charts, slicers and conditional formatting — and set the file up so next month is a data refresh, not a rebuild.
- Choosing the chart that answers the question, not the prettiest one
- Laying out a one-page dashboard people can read in ten seconds
- Slicers and filters so one file serves the whole team
- Conditional formatting that draws the eye to what matters
- Setting the file up so next month is a data refresh, not a rebuild
- Final project, review, and a personal checklist to take back to work
Hands-on workshop
Build the one-page interactive dashboard you show your manager: the charts that answer the question, slicers so one file serves the whole team, and conditional formatting that draws the eye to what matters — all on a single screen people can read in ten seconds.
Tools you'll actually use
- Microsoft Excel (Microsoft 365)
- Microsoft Copilot in Excel
- Excel Tables and Data Validation
- PivotTables and PivotCharts
- Conditional formatting and slicers
What you'll build
Cleaned customer list
Take a messy exported list and turn it into a reliable table with validation rules that stop future mistakes.
Sales summary with PivotTables
Answer a real question — best month, best product, slowest branch — from several thousand rows.
One-page interactive dashboard
Charts, slicers and highlights on a single screen. This is the piece you show your manager.
What you take home
- Exercise filesThe exercise files from all three days — the customer list you clean, the sales summary you build and the dashboard you finish.
- Finished dashboardThe one-page dashboard you build on Day 3 — charts, slicers and highlights on a single screen — yours to keep.
- Your own work fileOptional: bring a real file from your job and Day 2 ends with you practising on it, so what you take home is something you can actually use on Monday.
- Personal checklistYou write it yourself in the Day 3 review, to take back to work.
- CertificateA certificate of completion from ALL IN ONE STATION.

Questions about this course
Do I need a Copilot licence before the course?
You need Microsoft 365 with Copilot in Excel to follow the Copilot exercises on your own laptop. Contact us before the course and we will check your setup with you, or arrange a machine for you to use during class.
I have never written an Excel formula. Is this too advanced?
No. Day 1 starts from the beginning and assumes no formula knowledge. The course is built so a complete beginner can keep up while still being useful to someone who already uses Excel daily.
Is it really three full days?
Yes — three consecutive days, 08:00 to 17:00, 24 hours in total. Around 80% of that time is you working on your own machine, not watching slides.
Can I bring my own work data?
Yes, and we encourage it. Bringing a real file means you leave with something you can actually use on Monday. If your data is confidential, bring a copy with the sensitive columns removed.
What if I miss a day?
Tell us as early as you can and we will arrange for you to join the same day in the next intake at no extra cost.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. You receive a certificate of completion from ALL IN ONE STATION, along with the exercise files and your finished dashboard to keep.
